What is the RDPRM?

The RDPRM — Registre des droits personnels et réels mobiliers — is the Quebec public registry where movable-property rights are filed. Established by articles 2934 and following of the Civil Code of Quebec, it contains 112 natures de droit: hypothèques mobilières (with or without dispossession), legal hypothecs, credit-lessor rights, reservations of ownership, prior notices of exercise, rank assignments, marriage contracts, civil-union contracts, movable donations, substitutions, liquidator designations, renunciations of succession, and more. It is administered by the Ministère de la Justice du Québec. An RDPRM extract is used for title searches, pre-financing diligence, real-estate closings, estate files, and priority analysis in litigation.

Why automate extraction?

A single RDPRM extract can contain dozens of inscriptions that must be classified by nature, ordered by rank, linked to their parent inscription, and transposed into a firm's Word or Excel template. Done by hand, this work takes a legal assistant 2–3 hours a day. Automated, it takes under a minute — with no loss of typographic quality and with built-in deduplication of hypothecs filed under multiple trade names.
